Bulls guard Hamilton scratched with thigh bruise

Published Jan. 27, 2012 8:44 p.m. ET

Chicago Bulls guard Richard Hamilton was a late scratch for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks because of a bruised right thigh.

During his pregame press conference, Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau said that Hamilton would go through warmups in hopes of playing. He suffered the injury during Wednesday's loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Shortly before Friday's tipoff, the Bulls announced that Hamilton would not play. He was replaced in Chicago's starting lineup by Kyle Korver.

Hamilton missed 10 games earlier this season with a sore left groin. He is averaging 14.5 points in 10 games during his first season with Chicago.

Chicago was also missing starting forward Luol Deng, who sat out for the third straight game because of a sprained left wrist. Deng is listed as day-to-day.

The Bulls welcomed back reserve forward Taj Gibson. Gibson missed three games with a left ankle sprain.
