Bucks' Sanders, Mayo out for Pistons game

Published Jan. 22, 2014 7:15 p.m. ET

MILWAUKEE (AP) Bucks starting center Larry Sanders and second-leading scorer O.J. Mayo will each miss Wednesday night's game against the Detroit Pistons because of illness.

Sanders and Mayo have both missed practice the last couple days. Coach Larry Drew said Sanders had a cold, while Mayo had flu-like symptoms.

Sanders is the team's second leading rebounder (6.7 per game) while Mayo is averaging 12.6 points off the bench.

Milwaukee planned to go with a big starting frontcourt of Ekpe Udoh, Ersan Ilyasova and John Henson, who are each at least 6-foot-10, to counter the Pistons' physical front line of Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.

The Bucks have the worst record in the NBA at 7-33. They're trying to snap a nine-game losing streak.
