Arizona State to retire Byron Scott's No. 11

Cavaliers coach Byron Scott will start his All-Star break by getting his jersey retired at Arizona State.

The school will honor Scott by retiring his No. 11 on Thursday night during a game against Washington. Former Sun Devils standout Lionel Hollins is also being honored.

Scott, who played at ASU from 1979-83, said he wore No. 11 all through high school and college as a tribute to his favorite player, Bob McAdoo. Scott hoped to continue wearing the number in the NBA, but when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1983, McAdoo already had the number.

Scott said it took him two years to work up the courage to tell McAdoo that he was his hero.
