Allen leads Celtics' starters in big 3rd quarter

Ray Allen scored all 14 of his points in Boston's big third quarter as the Celtics closed their preseason with a 107-92 win over the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday night.

Paul Pierce finished with 17 points and the Celtics took control by outscoring the Nets 36-16 in the third.

Kevin Garnett and Glen Davis each scored 14 points. Shaquille O'Neal had 12 and nine rebounds for Boston, which completed the preseason 7-1.

Derrick Favors led the Nets with 16 points and Anthony Marrow had 13. New Jersey closed its preseason 3-5.

Boston coach Doc Rivers watched the game from the locker room to rest his voice, three days after a throat biopsy that came back negative. Assistant Lawrence Frank, fired by the Nets last November, ran the team.
