If the Pelicans are going to reach their full potential this season, they'll need to avoid the injury bug which has plagued them in recent years.
Things aren't off to a great start, as reserve center Alexis Ajinca will be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury, according to an official release.
Ajinca was serviceable in limited minutes last season. He averaged 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per contest, and signed a new contract this summer worth $20 million over the next four seasons.
