Agent: Hornets, Landry agree to deal

Carl Landry's agent says the NBA free agent power forward has agreed to a one-year, $8.8 million deal with New Orleans.

Mark Bartelstein says his client agreed to only a one-year deal because of Hornets ''uncertain ownership situation.'' The team is currently owned by the NBA.

The Hornets acquired the 6-foot-9 Landry in a trade last season and he started during the first round of the playoffs while David West was injured. Landry averaged 11.8 points and 4.1 rebounds last season in 23 games with the Hornets.

Bartelstein says Landry likes working with Hornets coach Monty Williams and that general manager Dell Demps did ''a great job'' of recruiting his client for another year in New Orleans.
