The Philadelphia 76ers have selected Ohio State shooting guard Evan Turner with the No. 2 overall pick of the NBA draft.

Turner, the Associated Press Player of the Year, was chosen in the first round on Thursday night. He averaged 20.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists while leading the Buckeyes into the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.

The 21-year-old Turner - 6-foot-7, 210 pounds - left Ohio State after his junior year and is considered one of the most NBA-ready players in the draft.
