Twins DL Casilla, recall IF Tolbert

Minnesota Twins infielder Alexi Casilla has been placed in the disabled list and may need elbow surgery.

Minnesota announced after Monday night's 5-4 win over Seattle that Casilla, who pinch-ran against the Mariners is heading to the DL with a bone spur in his right elbow. The Twins are recalling Matt Tolbert from Triple-A Rochester.

Second baseman Orlando Hudson is out indefinitely following a collision with center fielder Denard Span on Sunday night.

Tolbert appeared in three games with the Twins earlier this season. He was optioned to Rochester on May 18.

He is hitting .256 in 39 games at Triple A.

Manager Ron Gardenhire hinted the switch-hitting Tolbert may start on Tuesday against Seattle left-hander Jason Vargas.
