J.J. Hardy and Brendan Harris each had two hits and an RBI for a Minnesota Twins split squad in a 4-2 win over the New York Yankees.

Twins lead off batter Denard Span hit his mother with a foul ball in the first inning. After receiving treatment, Span's mother returned to watch the game - in another seat.

Alex Rodriguez fouled a ball sharply off his left foot in the second. He remained in the game and two innings later hit an opposite-field homer to right.

Yankees fifth starter Phil Hughes gave up three runs and six hits in 4 2-3 innings. He struck out five. Joba Chamberlain pitched a perfect inning of relief.
