Left-hander Tim Byrdak is remaining with the New York Mets, agreeing to a minor league contract.

The 39-year-old was 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA in 56 relief appearances this season, his second with the Mets. He pitched in a team-record 18 straight games without allowing a hit from May 4 to June 4.

Byrdak went on the disabled list Aug. 3 and had surgery Sept. 6 to repair a torn interior capsule in his left shoulder.

His agreement was announced Monday.
