Tigers rest Cabrera again

Published Sep. 1, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Miguel Cabrera has been taken out of the Detroit Tigers' lineup for a second straight game to rest his strained abdomen.

Torii Hunter hit third, in Cabrera's spot, Sunday against the Cleveland Indians and Ramon Santiago replaced him at third base.

Detroit also kept center fielder Austin Jackson out of the lineup in the series finale, a day after he hurt his right shoulder when he hit the wall trying to make a catch in Saturday night's win.

Cabrera started, but didn't finish, his last two games on Thursday afternoon and Friday night because of the lingering injury.
