Sweet grabs by Robinson & Heyward
There were two sweet defensive plays to end games on Monday night.
The spectacular home run saving catch, followed by a quick juggling act, was made by Cincinnati's Derrick Robinson. The Reds center fielder pulled back Jeff Francoeur's drive for the final out to secure Bronson Arroyo's shutout in an 11-0 rout of the host San Francisco Giants.
In New York, Atlanta's Jason Heyward didn't rob anyone of a homer — but the 2012 Gold Glove winner came up with a much bigger play for the final out of the Braves' 2-1 victory.
With two outs and runners on first and second, New York's Justin Turner hit the ball towards the left-center field gap into a driving rain. Positioned in right-center, Heyward raced across the spacious Citi Field outfield and made a diving catch to seal the victory — and likely avoid a Mets' walk-off celebration.
By the way, Heyward was only making his fifth career start in center.
