Star SS Tulowitzki not in Rockies' lineup

Published Apr. 18, 2012 9:00 p.m. ET

Colorado star Troy Tulowitzki was out of the lineup Wednesday, a move Rockies manager Jim Tracy said he discussed with the All-Star shortstop a couple days ago.

Tracy said the move was not a result of Tulowitzki's defensive struggles. The Rockies are off Thursday and then start a weekend series at Milwaukee.

Tulowitzki made two errors Tuesday. He has six errors in 11 games, matching his total for all of last year when he won his second straight Gold Glove Award. The two-error game was his second in four games and the fourth of his career.

Tulowitzki has slumped at the plate, too. He's 1 for 14 in his past four games.

Tracy said he planned this move in advance. He added that it would give Tulowitzki time to ''regroup.''
