Sources: Damon, Manny reunited as Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays, quiet for much of the offseason, on Friday agreed to contracts with veterans Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez, major-league sources confirmed to FOXSports.com.

Damon will earn a base salary of $5.25 million, Ramirez $2 million, sources said.

The former Boston Red Sox teammates should provide star power to a team that has lost Carl Crawford, Rafael Soriano, Carlos Pena, Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett and others this winter.

The veterans should give the Rays a better chance to remain competitive in the American League East, which they won last year. But both Damon and Ramirez are coming off down years, in terms of offensive production.
