Scioscia: No plans to move Trout and Pujols from current lineup spots
The Los Angeles Angels recently re-shuffled their starting lineup, putting Mike Trout and Albert Pujols back-to-back in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively.
With the Halos looking for more consistent offense from the lineup, manager Mike Scioscia says they're sticking with Trout and Pujols in those slots.
As he told the O.C. Register's Jeff Fletcher to that effect, "It’s too early to tell if it’s creating or detracting from our lineup. But we feel really comfortable with the fact that we’re going to create more offense.”
The move comes after Trout spent much of his career in the No. 2 spot in the lineup - which is now used frequently by outfielder Kole Calhoun (with shortstop Erick Aybar hitting leadoff).
The Angels have yet to 'get going' this season, hovering around the .500 mark for much of the year so far. Obviously, stacking their two most dangerous hitters in the middle of the order could wind up paying off - and that's exactly what they're hoping for now that Scioscia has made it clear they aren't switching anything for the time being.
