Sano, Duffey lead Twins to 3-2 win over Mariners
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Miguel Sano hit a tiebreaking homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and Tyler Duffey pitched seven strong innings for his best start in more than a month as the Minnesota Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 Saturday night.
Duffey (9-11) had allowed at least five earned runs in three of his past five starts. The right-hander gave up the two runs and four hits while striking out four.
Sano's 24th homer, a solo shot, followed Nelson Cruz's tying two-run shot for Seattle in the top of the fourth.
Jorge Polanco also had a solo home run for Minnesota, which snapped a seven-game losing streak. Brandon Kintzler got the last three outs for his 15th save in 18 chances.
Ariel Miranda (5-2) lost for the first time in five starts this month, lasting four innings and giving up three runs and three hits.
