San Francisco Giants planning to redevelop Mission Rock

On Tuesday the Giants submitted a ballot measure to the city attorney for the development of a 28-acre parcel of land known as Mission Rock. The land, located south of AT&T Park and including Pier 48, is currently a space for parking known as Lot A. The redevelopment is expected to include housing as well as commercial space and eight acres of parkland.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Giants President and CEO Larry Baer hopes the park space will be utilized by fans going to games at AT&T:

"The open space will include a five-acre waterfront green space as well as a more intimate “town square”-type park that will be ringed with residential buildings and retail. The Giants will create a community benefits district to maintain the park privately, according to Giants President and CEO Larry Baer. He said the open space will be an important part of the Giants’ fan experience, giving families a place to picnic or throw a baseball around before or after games."

Earlier this year the Giants opened “The Yard at Mission Rock” which is a pop-up village with shopping and dining located on Lot A.
