The 29-year old righty is 7-9 with a 2.91 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 117 1/3 innings pitched this season.
Gallardo, who is in his first year with the Rangers, spent eight seasons in Milwaukee, where he once pitched under current Royals manager Ned Yost. He was an All-Star during his time with the Brewers (2010) and won 17 games in 2011.
Gallardo is just the latest starting pitcher being linked to the Royals, who are also reportedly interested in Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake, Jeff Samardzija of the White Sox and Scott Kazmir of the Athletics.
