Royals' Duffy holds Rays hitless through 7 innings

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) Kansas City Royals left-hander Danny Duffy has held the Tampa Bay Rays hitless through seven innings.

Duffy struck out a career-high 14 and allowed his only baserunner when Logan Forsythe walked on a 3-2 pitch leading off the fourth Monday night.

The 27-year-old, who had not pitched a complete game in 94 big league starts coming in, threw 97 pitches through seven innings.

Duffy won his previous five decisions and hasn't lost since being beat by the Baltimore Orioles on June 6.

Kansas City took a 1-0 lead in the seventh when Kendrys Morales homered off Chris Archer, who has allowed four hits.
