Royals' Betancourt sits out with mild concussion

Royals shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt was held out of Kansas City's lineup Wednesday against the Texas Rangers after sustaining a mild concussion in a collision at home plate one day earlier.

Betancourt was injured when he came around to score on a sacrifice fly in the third inning Tuesday and collided with Rangers catcher Matt Treanor. Betancourt played two more innings before complaining of dizziness and leaving the game.

Royals manager Ned Yost said ``after a slight concussion, it's prudent to give them 48 hours'' off. Mike Aviles started his third game of the season at shortstop.
