Rowand leaves with hip injury

Published May. 30, 2011 7:22 p.m. ET

San Francisco's Aaron Rowand bruised his right hip when he was struck by the ball while diving into second base on a pickoff attempt in the fifth inning.

Rowand stayed on base after testing his legs but Nate Schierholtz replaced the outfielder in the bottom of the fifth against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

Schierholtz played right field and Cody Ross moved from right field to left field.
