Before Tuesday night's game at Coors Field between the Rockies and the Padres, Carlos Gonzalez presented a check from his charity, the Carlos Gonzales Foundation, for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

Thomas Harding of MLB.com noted that the donation was not specifically for baseballl programs. he quotes Gonzalez:

"It's for everything," he said. "Of course, education is No. 1. Like I always tell my children and all kids, education is first and sports second. When you have an education, you can do everything in life. You're prepared for everything. Sports, when you have the talent, if you have the education, you can take advantage of it."
