Jason Giambi hit a game-ending, two-run homer off Jonathan Papelbon as the Colorado Rockies scored three times in the ninth to beat the Boston Red Sox 8-6 on Wednesday night after ace Ubaldo Jimenez finally had a bad outing.
Giambi, batting for Jonathan Herrera, sent a 1-0 pitch into the right-field seats. Ian Stewart had tied it at 6 when he led off the inning with his eighth homer - but first at Coors Field - off Papelbon (2-4), who blew his second save in 18 chances.
Manny Corpas (2-4) picked up the win a scoreless inning of relief.
Jimenez, who was seeking his 14th win, gave up six runs and 10 hits over 5 2-3 innings in the worst start of his spectacular season.
