Report: Padres pitchers Kennedy, Benoit pulled back from waivers
The San Diego Padres won't be dealing a pair of their pitchers this season, but they have now gauged that there is interest amongst the league for them.
CBS Sports reports that the Padres pulled back starter Ian Kennedy and set-up man Joaquin Benoit after the two were claimed on waivers.
While Kennedy is having a relatively mediocre season for the 30-year-old righty, in which he's 7-11 with a 4.20 ERA,.252 opponent batting average, and 113 strikeouts in 122 innings over 22 starts, Benoit is having a solid season out of the Padres' bullpen.
The veteran righty has recorded 22 holds for San Diego this season, while maintaining a 2.13 ERA and 0.83 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 50 2/3 innings.
Now that the two have reportedly been pulled back from waivers, neither can be traded for the remainder of the season.
