Report: Ben Revere staying with the Phillies for now

Published May. 28, 2015 4:01 a.m. ET

Although it appeared as though a deal between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim involving Phillies outfielder Ben Revere was imminent, it now looks as though Revere will stay put in Philadelphia.

According to a report from MLB.com, the Angels' acquisition of New York Mets outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis on Wednesday signifies that the Phillies won't trade Revere for now—at least not to the Angels.

"The Phillies wanted at least one Minor League player in return, but the sides could not reach an agreement," the report details of trade talks between the two teams.

The Phillies will still have to address their looming logjam in the outfield, with Cody Asche and Domonic Brown soon to reunite with Philadelphia's major-league club, which will likely require them to make a move.
