Red Sox await word on Pedroia's injury
Boston Red Sox infielder Dustin Pedroia will be examined again on Saturday to determine his status after fouling a ball off his left foot in San Francisco.
Pedroia finished his second at-bat Friday but was then removed for a pinch runner in the third inning. He was examined by a team trainer and was seen in the visitors clubhouse afterward on crutches.
His plan for the rest of Friday night was "ice, elevate it, and pray," Pedroia told the Boston Globe.
A team spokesman said doctors were reviewing X-rays on Pedroia's foot and more tests will be done.
It could be a tough blow for the Red Sox, who arrived in the Bay Area at 4 a.m. after a 13-11, 10-inning win at Colorado on Thursday night. Pedroia went 5-for-5 with three home runs, including a go-ahead, two-run drive in the 10th inning.
For the season, Pedroia is hitting .292 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs.
