ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Pitching coach Mike Maddux and the AL West champion Texas Rangers are parting ways after seven seasons.

Texas announced Thursday that Maddux would not return. His contract was through this season, but he had previously been invited to return in 2016.

After the Rangers ended their season two weeks ago losing to Toronto in the deciding Game 5 of the AL Division Series, they said Maddux was among six assistant coaches invited back next season. Only two of manager Jeff Banister's coaches weren't on that list.

Bullpen coach Andy Hawkins resigned to pursue opportunities with other teams. The Rangers said then that it was a mutual decision on the departure of hitting coach Dave Magadan so he could look for a job closer to his home in Florida.
