The Texas Rangers have returned Rule 5 draft pick Coty Woods to Colorado and gotten first baseman Chris McGuiness back from Cleveland.

McGuiness, who hit .195 this spring with the Indians, was assigned outright Wednesday to Triple-A Round Rock.

After being taken in the Rule 5 draft last December, McGuiness and Woods had to be offered back to their former organizations if not on the major league opening day roster.

Woods, a right-hander, had a 2.61 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 10 relief appearances for the Rangers this spring.

McGuiness hit .268 with 23 homers and 77 RBI in 123 games last season at Frisco, the Rangers' Double-A team. He was MVP in the 2012 Arizona Fall League with a .283 average and league-best 27 RBIs.
