Pujols in lineup, day after hit in head by throw

Albert Pujols was in the St. Louis Cardinals' lineup and reported no ill effects a day after getting hit in the head by a throw.

The remnants of a welt remained on the left side of Pujols' neck Tuesday. But the star slugger says he's had no problems with headaches or other issues.

The three-time NL MVP broke for home on David Freese's chopper to third base in the fifth inning Monday night against Seattle. Jose Lopez made an errant throw and the left ear flap of Pujols' batting helmet absorbed some of the impact.

Moments after being helped off the field by teammate Yadier Molina and receiving attention from a trainer, Pujols assured manager Tony La Russa he was fine and stayed in the game.
