Prep baseball team rescues girl

By now you might have heard about the Sacramento Valley High School baseball team, which reportedly rescued a girl who was pinned by a car on Tuesday, May 7.

As soon as members of the ballclub heard a girl yell in distress from the parking lot, they immediately stopped practice, ran toward the screams and teamed up to lift the car so they could free the girl.

Fortunately, the girl didn't suffer major injuries and was released from the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center later that day, the Sacramento Bee reported.

"The guys really showed character," Valley High coach Brett Sawyer told the Sacramento Bee. "We're rebuilding our baseball program, but the baseball players became men. Their courage in a traumatic situation was truly remarkable. I couldn't be more proud. They turned a terrible situation into a heroic one."

The act earned a game invite from the local minor league team, the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, tweeted Joe Davidson of the Sacramento Bee.
