Pirates call up Wood, option Ciriaco

The Pirates have activated infielder Brandon Wood on Saturday and optioned infielder Pedro Ciriaco to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Wood joined the Pirates for their game against the Washington Nationals, a day after being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.

Wood was not in the starting lineup but Pirates manager Clint Hurdle says he is expected to see action at all four infield positions.

Ciriaco was recalled from Indianapolis on Friday to fill the roster spot that opened when infielder Josh Rodriguez was designated for assignment.
