Pirates boost rotation depth, get Webster from Diamondbacks

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded right-hander Allen Webster to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.

Webster was traded to the Diamondbacks from Boston last offseason in a deal that sent left-hander Wade Miley to the Red Sox and right-hander Rubby De La Rosa to the desert.

The 25-year-old Webster went 1-1 with a 5.81 ERA in nine games in 2015, including five starts. He was designated for assignment on Nov. 20.

Webster was originally drafted by Los Angeles and went to Boston in a deal that brought Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett to the Dodgers.
