Phillies to Send Seven Prospects to Arizona Fall League

After the minor-league regular season ends, the Phillies will join forces with several other teams to put together an Arizona Fall League team. There, Phillies prospects will get some extra playing time on the top of the regular season.

Even with the end of the regular minor-league season nearing, baseball is nowhere near over for Phillies prospects. Numerous off-season leagues exist, the first being the Arizona Fall League. The Phillies will send seven minor-leaguers to join the Scottsdale Scorpions.

The team will consist of Phillies, Angels, Yankees, Mets, and Giants prospects.

There are 21 MLB.com Top 100 prospects heading to the AFL, but none of them are coming from the Phillies. Second baseman Scott Kingery and pitcher Victor Arano headline the group of Phillies heading to the AFL.

In total, seven Phillies are expected to join the Scorpions: Kingery, third baseman Mitch Walding, outfielder Andrew Pullin, and pitchers Arano, Brandon Leibrandt, and Miguel Nunez. Another pitcher, as well as AA Reading pitching coach Steve Schrenk are also heading to Arizona.

Last season’s AFL corps featured top Phillies prospects J.P. Crawford, Andrew Knapp, Roman Quinn, and Dylan Cozens. Now major-league reliever Edubray Ramos also spent time in the Fall League.
