Phillies agree to minor league deals with Arencibia, Frieri

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Catcher J.P. Arencibia and right-hander Ernesto Frieri have agreed to minor league contracts with the Philadelphia Phillies and will attend major league spring training.

Arencibia had six home runs and 17 RBIs in only 24 games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2015. He hit 62 home runs from 2011-13 with Toronto. Frieri had two saves and a 4.63 ERA in 22 games for the Rays in 2015. He saved 60 games for the Angels in 2012-13.

The Phillies also invited right-handers Greg Burke and Gregory Infante and infielder Angelys Nina to spring training. Burke was 5-1 with a 2.63 ERA in the minors with Toronto last year. Infante spent most of last season with Toronto's Triple-A affiliate and had a 3.18 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A. Nina batted .300 in 114 games last season for Triple-A Albuquerque in 2015.
