SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) Hunter Pence hit a home run and Jeff Samardzija pitched six innings in the San Francisco Giants' 6-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

Angel Pagan, Miguel Olivio and Conor Gillaspie each added two hits for the Giants, who have lost 16 of the past 20 spring games to the A's. They play three more times in the Bay Bridge Series.

A's starter Chris Bassitt gave up four runs on eight hits in his 5 1-3 innings. Billy Burns and Josh Phegley each drove in a run.

A's prospects Matt Chapman and Chris Coughlin each hit two-run homers against Samardzija.

Bassitt was hit in the left hamstring by Olivio's line drive in the first but said it did not interfere with his outing.
