Orioles' Adam Jones out of Monday's lineup with back spasms

WASHINGTON (AP) Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones is out of Monday's starting lineup against Washington because of back spasms.

Manager Buck Showalter says he expects Jones to play Tuesday.

Earlier, Jones insisted he was dealing only with recurring soreness and that his off day is ''not a story.''

The five-time All Star also dealt with minor ankle and shoulder injuries this season and missed 13 games. He played in at least 159 games each of the previous three seasons.

Baltimore enters the three-game series 5 1-2 games out of the final AL wild-card spot, while Washington trails the NL East-leading New York Mets by six games.
