Ordonez out of Tigers' lineup
Magglio Ordonez is not in the Detroit Tigers' lineup for their game against the Yankees because his surgically repaired ankle is sore.
Manager Jim Leyland said Sunday the soreness doesn't appear to be serious and that the team will wait to decide when Ordonez will play next.
Leyland lifted Ordonez from the Tigers' 10-6 loss to New York on Saturday in the sixth. He attributed the move to the cold weather and soreness in Ordonez's ankle, not the lopsided score. The right fielder broke his ankle sliding into home July 24 and had season-ending surgery.
Ordonez is 0 for 7 in two games this season.
Don Kelly was set to start in right field.
Also, Victor Martinez will get his first start at catcher with the Tigers. Brennan Boesch is the designated hitter.
