MLB Rumors: Rockies, Braves emerge as leaders in pursuit of Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow has not played baseball since he was 17-years old, but apparently two Major League are showing major interest in bringing him in.
Tim Tebow is not the kind of person who is going to go away quietly. After a decent start to his NFL career with the Denver Broncos, Tebow tried to hold onto his dream of being an NFL quarterback for too long. He was a backup for the New York Jets, before being cut in the preseason by both the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots. For now, it appears that dream is over.
Tebow now has a new dream, and that is to play in the Major Leagues. This past Tuesday, Tebow worked out for nearly every MLB team, hosting a showcase for himself. He showed some talent, mostly his throwing ability, but also showed that he has some pop in his bat. He blasted a 430-foot blast during batting practice, which is a moon shot for anyone.
Of the 30 or so teams who checked him out on Tuesday, two organizations came away as front-runners in the pursuit for his services. Those two teams are the Colorado Rockies, and the Atlanta Braves.
Pedro Gomez tells us the two #MLB organizations he has heard have the most interest in Tim Tebow are the #Rockies & #Braves.

Both organizations kind of make sense for Tebow. He played in the SEC during his college football days, so he would have huge support in Atlanta. If Tebow were to go to Colorado, he would be returning to the place of his greatest victories in the NFL. Either way, Tebow will be playing baseball somewhere next year, and these two organizations appear to have the inside track to winning his services.
The fact is, Tebow has not played organized baseball in 12 years. So while it would be a nice publicity stunt to bring him in, he could not possibly be able to hang in there against Major League pitching. This is just another challenge that Tebow will put in front of himself, though it will most likely end with him back in the both doing college football telecasts.
Tebow’s will to succeed is unparalleled, but sometimes, you just have to walk away.
