ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Mike Trout has left the Los Angeles Angels' game against Cleveland after getting hit by a pitch in the eighth inning.

Trout was hit in the right thumb by Tommy Hunter's inside pitch Sunday. X-rays revealed no broken bones, only a bruise for the 2014 AL MVP.

Trout reacted with obvious pain after the pitch hit him, and he consulted with manager Mike Scioscia and the Angels' training staff before walking off the field. Shane Robinson ran for Trout at first base.

Trout began the day batting .306 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs. He had a single and two walks before getting hurt.
