Max Scherzer just rescued a piece of MLB history from his garbage can
Nationals ace Max Scherzer made a terrifying discovery when he looked in the trash can on Wednesday.
Apparently, his wife was doing some autumn cleaning and nearly tossed out a rather historical item:
Scherzer threw two no-hitters during the 2015 season: June 20 against the Pirates and Oct. 3 against the Mets. And it was the jersey from that gem against New York that nearly ended up in a landfill. Apparently, there is a bright side to being eliminated in the NLDS — just imagine if Scherzer was in Cleveland this week and wasn't there to recover his jersey.
As he showed in a follow-up tweet, Scherzer got the last laugh. Well, he probably really didn’t, but we’ll let him think he did.
And just to be safe, it probably wouldn't hurt to frame that jersey.
