Mauer improving from concussion
Twins All-Star catcher Joe Mauer visited a concussion specialist at the Mayo Clinic and has been cleared to begin light exercises.
Mauer was placed on baseball's seven-day concussion list earlier this week after he became dizzy during his pregame routine. The Twins sent him back to Minnesota from Detroit on Thursday to undergo further tests. Assistant general manager Rob Antony said Friday that Mauer was given the go-ahead to start exercising. Mauer is scheduled to be at Target Field on Saturday to work with one of the team's trainers.
Antony said the former AL MVP will steadily increase his conditioning program as long as he feels up to it. Antony said the Twins don't know if Mauer will return when the 7-day concussion period expires.
Mauer is hitting .324 with 11 homers and 47 RBIs.
