Mariners C Adam Moore out with broken wrist

Published Mar. 8, 2012 2:52 p.m. ET

Seattle Mariners catcher Adam Moore has suffered a broken right wrist after blocking a ball in the dirt during a spring training game.

The Mariners announced Thursday morning that Moore would be out an unspecified amount of time after suffering the injury in Tuesday's game against Cincinnati. Moore blocked the pitch and remained in the game but arrived at the ballpark on Wednesday in pain. X-rays were taken and revealed the injury. He will be placed in a cast and his timetable for a return will be determined after he sees a hand specialist.

It's another stroke of bad luck for Moore, who missed most of last season after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee. Moore played in just two games in 2011.
