Lucroy, Brewers reach extension

Published Mar. 26, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

The Brewers and catcher Jonathan Lucroy have agreed on a multiyear contract extension.

The five-year deal will go from 2012 to 2016 and be worth $11 million, and includes a club option for 2017.

Lucroy was on pace to be eligible for salary arbitration following the 2013 season and free agency after 2016.

He posted a .703 OPS in 136 games with the Brewers last season — his first full season in the major leagues. He has thrown out 29 percent of base-stealers for his career.
