LaPorta back with Indians

Published Jul. 6, 2011 7:58 p.m. ET

Indians first baseman Matt LaPorta has been activated from the disabled list after missing more than two weeks with a sprained ankle.

LaPorta got hurt running the bases in a June 17 game against Pittsburgh. He went on the DL for the first time in his career the next day. The Indians missed his pop in their lineup, which has been riddled with injuries all season. He's batting .242 with 10 doubles, eight homers and 31 RBIs in 59 games.

He's batting eighth in Wednesday night's series finale against the Yankees.

To make room for LaPorta, the club optioned reliever Josh Judy to Triple-A Columbus. Judy has a 3.00 ERA in two appearances and two stints with the Indians.
