Jamie Moyer to work as ESPN analyst during rehab

Published Mar. 30, 2011 1:36 p.m. ET

Jamie Moyer will work as an analyst for ESPN while he rehabs toward a comeback to baseball.

The 48-year-old lefty had Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow in December but wants to play again next season. In the meantime, the 24-year major league veteran will serve as a commentator on ''Baseball Tonight.''

''It's a new challenge and I look forward to this forum as a chance to elaborate on the art of pitching as I rehab from injury this season,'' Moyer said Wednesday. ''I hope to get back on the diamond in the future.''

Moyer pitched for the Phillies the last 4 1/2 seasons, going 9-9 with a 4.84 ERA in 2010.
