Indians OF Bourn out again with tight hamstring

Published May. 6, 2014 5:08 p.m. ET

CLEVELAND (AP) Indians center fielder and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn is out of the lineup for the third straight game with a tight left hamstring.

Bourn hopes he'll be able to play again in a couple of days.

Right-hander Josh Tomlin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Tuesday against Minnesota.

Catcher George Kottaras was designated for assignment. On Sunday, he became the first player in club history to homer in his first two plate appearances with the team.

Bourn ran sprints in the outfield and took fly balls before Cleveland played the Twins on Tuesday. He left Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox after beating out a bunt in the third inning.

Bourn is expected to run the bases Wednesday. He had surgery on the hamstring in October, but strained it in spring training and began the season on the disabled list.
