Indians' Cabrera back in lineup at DH

Published May. 29, 2012 7:34 p.m. ET

Indians All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera is in the lineup as Cleveland's designated hitter after missing three straight games with a tight hamstring.

Cabrera was not in manager Manny Acta's original lineup, but was added after going through a full pre-game workout Tuesday before the Indians faced the Kansas City Royals. Acta said he wanted to ''ease'' Cabrera back and that rookie Juan Diaz will play in the field. Acta said Cabrera looked good while running the bases and that convinced him he was well enough to play.

Cabrera has a team-leading .301 average with five homers and 20 RBIs.

Also, DH Travis Hafner took batting practice but is ''still not 100 percent'' and remains sidelined with a sore right knee. Hafner ran in the outfield before the game and Acta does not yet know when he'll return.
