Edwin Jackson signs $507,500, 1-year deal with Miami Marlins
MIAMI (AP) The Miami Marlins added pitching depth Wednesday, signing right-hander Edwin Jackson to a one-year deal for the major league minimum $507,500.
The Cubs are responsible for paying Jackson $13 million in 2016 after releasing him last year.
Jackson made 47 relief appearances for the Cubs and Braves last season. The Marlins become his 10th franchise, and his other teams have been the Dodgers, Rays, Tigers, Diamondbacks, White Sox, Cardinals and Nationals.
He has made 340 career appearances, 262 of them starts, with an 88-107 record and 4.58 ERA.
The Marlins also completed the signing of infielder Chris Johnson, also to a $507,500, one-year deal.
Johnson was cut by the Indians in December. He is guaranteed $17.5 million for the next two seasons and a 2018 option buyout.
