Felix Doubrant helped his cause for a spot in Boston's rotation, allowing a run on five hits in six innings and leading a Red Sox split squad to a 4-1 win over the Florida Marlins on Saturday.

The left-hander threw 78 pitches, 53 for strikes, and lowered his ERA this spring to 2.70.

Austin Kearns hit his third home run for the Marlins, a drive that traveled more than 400 feet to center field in the second inning. Kearns, trying to win a bench spot, leads the team in home runs and RBIs (7).

Left-hander Wade LeBlanc allowed three runs on five hits in five innings for the Marlins. Most of the damage came in the first inning when he gave up three runs - two earned - on four hits.
