Dodgers LHP Onelki Garcia has left elbow surgery

Published Nov. 12, 2013 11:41 p.m. ET

Dodgers pitcher Onelki Garcia has had left elbow surgery in a clean-out procedure that included removing a spur.

The team said Tuesday that Garcia had the surgery last Friday in Los Angeles.

Garcia's rehab is underway and he's expected to be throwing in five to six weeks. The team says he should be able to pitch by the start of the regular season in late March.

The 24-year-old left-hander from Cuba appeared in three games for the Dodgers last season, when he spent most of the year in the minors.
